Parents’ Organization (PO)
Upper Canada College is a dynamic and exciting community for our boys — and for our parents too.
As an Upper School parent you’re automatically a member of the Parent’s Organization (PO) or, at the Prep, the Prep Parents’ Organization (PPO). The PO serves to enhance the boys’ experience, in partnership with administration and staff, and is celebrating its 31st year at the school.
The PO has a committee of about 30 parent volunteers who are hardworking, dedicated and passionate. They organize social events and services throughout the year such as the used book sale, new and used uniform sales, ring and frame sales, Festive Marketplace and our annual parent luncheon in May. While our goal is to celebrate the camaraderie, unity and spirit within the school, any funds raised from our initiatives allow us to contribute back to the school to enhance services and facilities for the boys.
We communicate to you mainly through the weekly Heads Up e-newsletter. Please refer to it for news of PO events in addition to all the school news. There’s also lots of information about the PO on the UCC website. Please go to the tab that says “Get Involved” or click here. All you’ll want to know about us is there.
Each grade has a year rep and each house has a rep for every year. They plan coffee and social gatherings for your grade, among other activities, including coffee mornings with Principal Sam McKinney. Please see the link here to register for your year.
Volunteering at UCC is a longstanding tradition. By becoming engaged you’ll gain insight into the boys’ school environment and also make some long and lasting friendships with fellow parents. Myriad volunteer opportunities await, depending on your availability, talents and interests. You’ll no doubt find it rewarding and enriching. It’s our volunteers who make these much anticipated and popular community events at the College so successful. Simply click here to complete the volunteer form. Our volunteer co-ordinator will be in touch with you at the appropriate time.
The PO is a wonderful way to become informed and engaged in the school. This community spirit is what helps make UCC such great community.
