UCC’s Blues Booster Club (BBC) relies on the support of parents to support the outstanding athletic program at UCC. There are more than 85 teams in the Upper School and Prep combined. As a result, there are many opportunities to demonstrate your support of the athletic program at UCC. Volunteer opportunities exist in these three areas:
The backbone of the BBC is the team parent program. Each team is assigned one or two team parents. Team parents’ primary activities are communication and spirit-raising. Some examples of their work behind the scenes are: laminated team rosters; email updates to parents; stories and photos for the UCC website and Connection electronic newsletter; and post-season celebrations. Team parents receive support from BBC team parent coordinators.
Spirit/Sports Showcase and Tournament Days
UCC holds a number of athletic showcase events throughout the year, including Association Day in late September, Winterfest in January and May Day in the spring. The Prep School hosts hockey and basketball tournaments in January. The Upper School hosts several sports tournaments over the course of the year. Help at these events is required in various forms, including staffing food stations, working at the BBC booth to provide information to guests, and selling BBC merchandise.
BBC Executive Member
The BBC executive directs the activities of the BBC. It’s comprised of parents, faculty members, students and Old Boys who boost awareness of athletic events and celebrate athletic performance. The BBC executive meets formally three times a year and informally on the sidelines at many athletic events.
